Virgin Radio's irreverent funny-men Pete & Geoff fend off Radio 2 and scoop prestigious GOLD Sony Radio Award for Music Programming - Daily Sequence May 3rd 2002: Virgin Radio is proud to announce that drive-time duo Pete and Geoff have just been awarded the most prestigious accolade in the radio industry - a Sony Gold Award for music programming for "The Pete & Geoff Show." The dynamic duo won the award for Music Programming - Daily Sequence and beat off stiff competition from Steve Wright from Radio 2, who failed to get more than a nomination in this category, the Capital Group and BBC Radio 3, who received Silver and Bronze and Jazz FM last night. The Pete and Geoff Show, produced by Matt Pritchard has only been on drive- time for three months and had previously been on air weekday evenings for the last four years. It was praised by judges at the awards who said the Pete and Geoff Show is completely compelling radio, innovative and always surprising and demonstrates that rare 'Midas touch' which turns a standard interview into a great piece of radio.
