Ito-Yokado Co., Ltd. will roll-out Pricer’s ESL system in more than 150 stores in Japan constituting the largest ESL roll-out outside Europe, as communicated in a Pricer press release on August 5th 2004. Ito-Yokado is the largest retailer in Japan – the second largest retail market in the world. The IY Group, with about 60 subsidiaries and affiliates, is active and well known in most parts of the world through its more than 17,000 stores. Oshman’s, Robinson’s and Denny’s and most of all 7-Eleven are some of Ito-Yokado’s well known chains. With an increased number of stores to over 170, approximately 1.7 million Pricer labels will be installed at Ito-Yokado within one year starting in September 2004. The order is placed with Pricer’s Japanese partner Ishida Co., Ltd., and partly leads to new orders for Pricer. Pricer has a previous order from Ishida Co., Ltd. received in 2001, for deliveries until 2007, of which the order value for 2004 is already covered. Any additional deliveries therefore results in new orders from Ishida Co., Ltd. during 2004 and also creates the foundation for new orders in 2005. As of today, Pricer has received new orders from Ishida of around SEK 28 M (USD 3.8 M) in 2004. “Ito-Yokado is dedicated to pursuing retail business from the customer’s point of view, carefully selecting and implementing superior retail technology – and in this aspect seen as the role model among most Japanese retailers”, says Tsuyoshi Kikukawa, Manager ESL Business Center, Ishida Co., Ltd. “With Ito-Yokado’s roll-out order, Pricer can once again include one of the world’s most prestigious retail chains to it’s customer base, consisting of leaders such as Carrefour and Metro in Europe, Costco in the US and several major actors in Japan”, comments Jan Forssjö, President, Pricer AB.
