CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) is offering Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) and its basketball team a “High $5” for its history-making run in this year’s NCAA Men’s Championship Tournament. More specifically, Southwest Florida’s television, broadband and telephone provider has pledged a donation of $5 to FGCU’s Athletics Department for every new TV service subscriber in Southwest Florida that signs up before the tournament ends April 8. Customers can join CenturyLink in supporting FGCU by ordering in store, by phone or online. The first 100 subscribers to sign up in person at any Southwest Florida CenturyLink store will get a free “High $5” FGCU T-shirt (one per customer).

“Many of us at CenturyLink have ties to FGCU, so we want to congratulate them and support the school as it builds on this accomplishment,” said Brian Hamman, manager of market development for CenturyLink. “As an FGCU graduate, I’m so proud of my school and the attention it’s brought to Fort Myers, a.k.a. Dunk City.”

Florida Gulf Coast University relies on student fees and donations to fund its athletic program. Due to the athletic program’s unprecedented growth and outstanding success, budget requirements are growing faster than donations. “It’s now time for the local business community and other able donors to join as Athletic Department supporters and be part of FGCU’s future success. CenturyLink wants to be part of making this happen,” Hamman said
