Mark Stevens named corporate chairman of 2013 Walk to Cure Diabetes for second year

Mark Stevens, president of Stevens Construction, has been named corporate chairman of the 2013 Walk to Cure Diabetes to be held on April 20 at the Bell Tower Shops.

The Walk to Cure Diabetes is the signature event for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 diabetes research worldwide. JDRF is dedicated to finding a cure for the disease and its complications.

Stevens has a 10-year-old son who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2011. As chairman, Stevens intends to increase awareness and raise funds for this disease while representing the Stevens Construction team at the event.

Stevens served as corporate chairman for the 2012 Walk to Cure, which raised $173,000 in Fort Myers.

Active in the community, Stevens has served as president of the Lee County Building Industry Association (BIA) from 2008-2010, and currently serves on the board of the Lee BIA, Builders Care and the Horizon Council.
