Pavese Law Firm attorney Kathleen Oppenheimer Berkey selected to Connect Florida’s Statewide Leadership Institute
Pavese Law Firm attorney Kathleen Oppenheimer Berkey, a land use, zoning and local government attorney and certified land planner at Pavese Law Firm in Fort Myers, Fla., has been selected to participate in Class III of Connect Florida’s Statewide Leadership Institute.
Berkey is one of 37 young professionals selected to the Statewide Leadership Institute, a year-long educational program of Connect Florida, a non-profit organization created by Leadership Florida to assist young leaders in making a positive impact on Florida. Connect Florida is the first statewide young professional organization in the nation, specifically working to connect and engage Florida's leaders in the 21 to 39 age range. The Statewide Leadership Institute curriculum offers an intensive orientation to the issues facing our state and is designed to enhance the participants’ leadership skills, provide practical experience in community service, and facilitate opportunities to interact with statewide leaders.
To develop each class of The Statewide Leadership Institute, Connect Florida uses a competitive process to select from many qualified applicants from across the state based on a variety of factors, such as their leadership potential, community involvement, and their commitment to improving the state of Florida. Berkey’s membership in Class III of Connect Florida adds to a history of Pavese Law Firm attorney involvement in Leadership Florida programs. Neale Montgomery, a partner at the Pavese Law Firm is a graduate of Leadership Florida, Class XXVIII.
Berkey joined the Pavese Law Firm in 2011 and her practice focuses primarily on resolving land use and zoning, real estate and environmental issues related to the development of land. She graduated with pro bono distinction from the University of North Carolina School of Law and earned her Master of City and Regional Planning degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also received her A.B. degree from Franklin and Marshall College, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Berkey serves as a Co-Chair for the Lee County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Committee, Co-Chair for the Urban Land Institute Southwest Florida’s Young Leaders Group, Guardian ad Litem for the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program (20th Judicial Circuit), and volunteers with the Gulf Coast Humane Society.
