Pavese Law Firm partner Mary Vlasak Snell will speak to women business owners on legal considerations surrounding business succession planning during the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) of Southwest Florida meeting on May 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Club at Grandezza clubhouse, located at 11481 Grand Oak Blvd. in Estero.

Who will keep the ship sailing when the captain is gone? Snell will address questions related to succession planning including the following:

  • Who will own or control the business when the founder or owner is no longer available?
  • Who will run the business?
  • How will the owner realize value for her estate?
  • What happens to relationships with suppliers, vendors, lenders and employees following the owner’s death or retirement?

Snell, who joined the firm in 1987, specializes in estate planning, probate and trust administration, guardianship, Medicaid planning and business law. She is a member of numerous local and national professional organizations.

Snell was the recipient of the 2004-2005 President Award from the Junior League of Fort Myers for her work as the Chair of the Langford Kingston Home Task Force.

Snell serves as a member of the executive committee, the allocations team leader, secretary and is a long-time member of the board of directors at United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties; a sustainer member of the Junior League of Fort Myers; a board member and volunteer at Bishop Verot Catholic High School; and a finance committee member and volunteer at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and School.
