Hunter success is black and white for Grays

Although only installed in March, the top-of-the-range Hunter HawkEye Elite TD from Pro-Align has been so busy at Grays of Hanwell that it has already paid for itself within just three months.

Typically, the Uxbridge Roadcentre carries out six to seven alignment checks a day with its new Hunter equipment, although this can increase up to 10 during particularly busy periods.

The work comprises a mixture of customers; those coming in purely to have their vehicles aligned, as well as work that is gained following speculative alignment checks on vehicles that are in the workshop for other reasons, such as for new tyres, exhausts and servicing.

Customers are presented with the results of an alignment check in a matter of seconds, which details all 14 primary angles, in a full colour printout. This provides extra peace of mind for those where the car’s geometry settings are correct and full transparency for those where corrective work is required.

Such has been the success of the new equipment that site manager, Ian ‘Hunter’ Hutchinson, is keen to explore the opportunity of creating a second alignment bay, in which he proposes another Hunter aligner, most probably a second HawkEye Elite TD..

Ian said: “In a very short space of time, our Hunter aligner has become an integral part of the business.

“That’s because alignment offers many benefits to our customers, including improved handling, safer driving, better fuel consumption and longer tyre life.

“Meanwhile for us at Grays, the new equipment is quickly proving itself to be very profitable – currently averaging £6,500 per month and sits comfortably with our other key activities of fitting tyres, MOT and servicing.

“The Hunter definitely features highly in our plans for further investment and business development.”

The Hunter HawkEye Elite TD is a state-of-the-art wheel aligner and is only available in the UK through Pro-Align, which has the sole distribution rights for the Hunter range of wheel aligners, balancers and tyre changes, in the country.

Paul Beaurain, managing director, Pro-Align, said: “Grays is finding for itself how quickly a new alignment service can boost business and profits within an existing operation. It is also typical of our other customers who know how lucrative wheel alignment can be.”
