Leading wheel alignment specialist Pro-Align has agreed a three year strategic partnership with The Skills Show that will see automotive apprentice technicians and students use its state-of-the-art Hunter equipment in Skills Auto competitions.

Thanks to Pro-Align’s support, trainee vehicle technician finalists will have the opportunity to demonstrate their wheel alignment servicing skills using Hunter’s latest imaging alignment equipment – the HawkEye Elite TD.

Pro-Align’s decision to lend its support is a further demonstration of its commitment to raise the bar for professional alignment standards coming just weeks after the launch of its very own alignment diploma.

Paul Beaurain, managing director, Pro-Align, said: “It benefits everyone in the automotive service and repair industry to give apprentices such backing, as they are our industry’s future.

“Therefore, we’re delighted to be supporting The Skills Show and also look forward to working with many young technicians, offering them the benefit of our extensive knowledge. It provides apprentices the chance to explore and develop their talents further and rewards those who have shown a dedication to their learning.”

This year, the WorldSkills UK Competitions programme culminates at The Skills Show at the NEC from 15th to 17th November which showcases the best of further education, apprenticeships and employer training.

There will be more than 600 competitors taking part in 63 skills competitions in 54 skills, covering all aspects of practical and applied skills, from car painting to carpentry. There is also a variety of have-a-go activities, exhibitions, along with career advice and spotlight features.

Ross Maloney, Chief Executive of The Skills Show, said, “The Skills Show provides a unique opportunity to inspire people with exciting opportunities in further education, skills and Apprenticeships through having a go at new skills, getting careers advice and meeting employers, colleges and learning providers. The show not only recognises the talents of young people across the United Kingdom, but highlights the vital importance of skills to economic growth.

It’s critical that the training and equipment we provide also represents world-class standards, so encouraging industry leading suppliers like Pro-Align to give their support, is vital for the success of the programme.”

Meanwhile, Pro-Align has also just launched its own industry leading alignment diploma which involves studying alignment theory, the 14 point primary alignment angles, four wheel toe adjustment and standard operations, among other areas.

Unlike other alignment training courses, students will be required to pass a theory test and practical assessment to demonstrate they have a sound technical and practical understanding of alignment.
