PROHA TO PROVIDE DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SOLUTION IN MASA YARDS SHIPBUILDING PROJECT

PROHA TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION FOR DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT IN MASA YARDS SHIPBUILDING PROJECTS Proha Plc and Kvaerner Masa Yards Inc made an agreement on providing an Internet-based document management system for shipbuilding. Proha will provide the service in cooperation with Suomen Raksanet Oy, which is a Finnish subsidiary of the Swedish ECInet Group. The solution is built on the Raksanet-platform for project document management developed by Suomen Raksanet Oy. In the first phase, the service is provided for Masa Yards Inc and its subcontractors in shipbuilding projects taking place in the Turku and Helsinki Shipyards and Piikkiö Works. The implementation and further development of the service will begin in November 2000. "For Proha, this agreement is a significant opening for document management services within the Project Management business area. Beside the shipbuilding industry, this service concept will also fill the needs of other investment project suppliers as well as their clients" says Director Pekka Vaara from Proha. Service for internal and external designers This shipbuilding document management service is meant for both internal and external designers at a shipyard as well as subcontractors. With the service, design work can be done independently of time and place and the client is offered a complete document management solution. The service contains all essential document management functions, such as effective information retrieval and update, versatile printing, copying, distribution, and mailing requests, and communication services. In addition, the solution has interfaces for storing, converting, and scanning services. Functions and services are equally available to all participants of a shipbuilding project according to their user privileges.
