A new hotel has risen in the picturesque art town of Todos Santos, just one hour north of the upscale tourist town of Cabo San Lucas.  The new Small Luxury Boutique Hotel Guaycura opened its doors this past fall.  The family owned and operated hotel was a passionate dream of Mr. Guillermo Salas, one of the pioneers of Los Cabos, Mexico and his two sons Guillermo and Fernando Salas.  The 14-suite boutique hotel is a great addition to the town of Todos Santos bringing with it style, ambiance and culture.

The hotel itself is a priceless piece of art dating back to the early nineteenth century. While the hotel has not been open long, the passion and the history of the Salas family date back decades.   The hotel Guaycura pronounced (Y-Koo-Ra), is the first true luxury hotel in the region.  The finesse of the property goes beyond the furniture, the service and the amenities; its love for life and art is reflected throughout.

Guaycura proposes to continually offer life long learning opportunities and enriching activities.   One of the first activities at the property will be a week long food and wine festival beginning January 30, 2011 – February 06, 2011, hosted by the award winning Chef Weinberg of the famous Alba Restaurant in Boston, Massachusetts.   The festival will be composed of cooking classes, aphrodisiac cocktails and wine paired dinners.   The cost of the events will be a-la-carte ranging from $35.00 - $85.00 USD  “We wanted to give guests the opportunity to pick and choose their gastronomical experiences; the combination of our baja cuisine with Chef Weinberg’s flare will surely be something spectacular,” said Angel Salinas, General Manager of Guaycura.  Participants of the festival will be treated to a special package offered by Guaycura to accommodate their stay.   The pre opening packages start at $386.00 for two nights in a classic room with daily breakfast.  For further information on the hotel visit www.guaycura.com.mx.  To make reservations email info@guaycura.com.mx or call toll free at 1-877-448-2928.

The future holds many surprises and cultural experiences for Hotel Guaycura.  Activities will range from art classes to music lessons, poetry writing and cooking classes.  “Todos Santos is a place rich in culture and being in the middle of it we want to become part of the movement”, says Guillermo Salas one of the founders of Hotel Guaycura.

About Todos Santos:

This picturesque village, located an hour away from Los Cabos, was denominated a "Pueblo Mágico" (magic town) in 2006 because of its well preserved historical buildings, its buoyant fishermen cum artists community, and its diversity of landscapes and microclimates.  It is an oasis surrounded by the mountains, the Pacific Ocean and unforgettable sunsets.  Todos Santos has been a traveler’s hideaway for quite some time.

About Hotel Guaycura:

Guaycura Boutique Hotel and Spa opened its doors in September of 2010 in the center of the town of Todos Santos just one hour north of Los Cabos and one hour south of La Paz.  Family owned and operated, the hotel consists of 14 luxury suites.   Rooms consist of hand painted murals painted by local artist.  The restaurant Guaycura offers traditional Mediterranean cuisine with a local Mexican flare.  Bar don Guillermo is a popular hang out with painted Renaissance-Moorish ceilings.   From the Sky Deck, a drink makes the perfect companion for the views of the Pacific Ocean against the backdrop of the Sierra de Laguna Mountains.   The Aena Spa (Aena meaning “a kiss from the heavens” in the local language) offers organic treatments, relaxing massages and facials.  The marble steam room and Jacuzzi complete the purification and renovation ritual.

Hotel Guaycura is marketed by ProHotel International of Houston, which manages and operates the celebrated Esencia Estate in the Riviera Maya, Mexico and Pico Bonito in La Ceiba, Honduras.
