PC-driving licence - a new popular movement
PC-DRIVING LICENCE - A NEW POPULAR MOVEMENT Close on 7000 government employees are now receiving training to use their PCs correctly. The Swedish company Prohunt AB will during fall 2000 supply individual training entitled PD Driving Licence (ECDL) through leased software from Prohunt. The client is Gävleborgs landsting (Gävleborgs county council), Huddinge kommun (Huddinge municipal authority), Samhall/Wasa and Flight Wing F7 in Såtenäs north of Gothenburg. Sweden is one of the regions in the world with the highest concentration of PCs. Recent surveys show that between 6 and 7 people of 10 have access to a PC at home or at work. Other research shows that the time it takes for companies to teach employees how to use their PCs costs huge un- accouted-for sums of money. The government PC training drive is well-timed. The large wave of company- subsidised employee PC purchase a couple of years ago lead to a boom in sales for PC retailers. Now PCs sold then are getting old and need to be replaced. At the same time, the market is offering a host of software products which demand more technology in the PC and user training. - Much thanks to generous tax deductions, Sweden are seen in the world to be the frontrunner when it comes to consumer use of PCs, says Prohunt's sales manager Björn Lagerstedt. We therefore gladly welcome the government's and local authorities' foresight in deciding to invest in training for their employees.
