Allison advancing in Indonesian BRT market with Chinese OEMs
Largest single order by TransJakarta Busway of 18-metre Zhong Tong articulated BRT buses features exclusive specification of Allison transmissions; another venture with Chinese OEM exporting buses to Indonesia.
BEIJING, China —TransJakarta Busway, the local bus transportation authority of Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, has announced the purchase of 66 Zhong Tong LCK6180GC buses, equipped with Allison automatic transmissions. The company’s largest single order of 18m articulated buses supports the city’s active promotion of the BRT public bus service as a means of reducing congested city traffic.
Over 200,000 people in Jakarta rely on BRT for their everyday commute. These new natural gas buses are operating on the No. 1 BRT designated route. They have received positive reaction within the Indonesian market. The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, the Jakarta City Government and passengers have all highly praised the reliability, durability, high efficiency and safety of the vehicles.
The specification of Allison transmissions on the Zhong Tong buses is not the company’s first venture in support of the export of Chinese buses to Indonesia. In the past, Dandong’s Huang Hai Bus has exported buses to Indonesia, all equipped with Allison transmissions, earning high praise locally. All 66 buses are fitted with Allison T375R transmission. The Allison automatic transmissions provide easy maneuverability, allowing the driver to keep both hands on the steering wheel and concentrate on road conditions, increasing safety and riding comfort.
The LCK6180GC 18-meter articulated BRT buses are fitted with natural gas engines, complementing the fully automatic transmissions for superior performance. Allison’s advanced electronic control technology helps engines obtain excellent fuel economy even at low speeds. At the same time, Allison’s Continuous Power Technology™ helps improve natural gas vehicle performance – avoiding acceleration delays and power interruptions common with gas engines combined with manual transmissions.
