Allison displays fully automatic transmissions for military vehicles at Eurosatory 2014

Visitors to this year’s Eurosatory, the Land and Air-land Defense and Security show held in Paris from June 16-20, will see an Allison X200 cross-drive transmission for tracked military applications, as well as a 3000 Series™ transmission for wheeled military applications, at the Allison Transmission exhibit in the USA Pavilion (stand C460).

PARIS – Allison Transmission will showcase its world renowned X200 and 3000 Series™ fully automatic transmissions globally recognised for quality, reliability and durability, at Eurosatory 2014. The Land and Air-land Defense and Security show held in Paris from June 16-20 is an excellent opportunity for visitors to see these transmissions, specially designed to operate in the harshest conditions, while ensuring unrivaled performance with Allison’s Continuous Power Technology™.

According to Michael Woods, international business development manager for defense programs at Allison Transmission, there is a proud heritage of military support woven into the fabric of the company, with more than 60 years of providing advanced transmissions to military customers around the world.

“Eurosatory 2014 gives us a great opportunity to meet with military OEMs as well as with national military delegates. Many have been using our products for years.  Our presence at the show and latest Allison transmission technology being showcased will be of interest to our current and future customers,” he said.

Allison Transmission’s X200 is designed for light to medium tracked vehicles up to 40,000 lbs (18,144 kg) and engine ratings up to 400 hp (298 kW). The X200 has a cross-drive design that integrates steering and braking into one compact and rugged unit. With four forward and two reverse ranges and full-power hydrostatic steering for smooth, efficient control, the X200 provides the ultimate in reliability and durability. The X200 is equipped with fully electronic controls for use with modern engines and a torque converter with an automatic lock-up clutch for smooth, efficient starts and stops.

Allison Transmission’s 3000 Series is designed for medium-duty vehicles and is engineered to adapt and operate efficiently in a variety of applications. The 3000 Series includes close or wide ratio gearing and a maximum rating of 336 kW (450 hp). The addition of 5th Generation advanced electronic controls enhances operation. An optional integral output retarder for better vehicle braking and reduced brake wear is available. This Allison Automatic provides up to seven speeds, including two overdrive ratios and several engine-driven Power Take-Off (PTO) provisions.
