Toyota Auris also to premiere latest Harman-developed Touch & Go multimedia system

PARIS 27 September 2012HARMAN (NYSE:HAR), the global leading supplier of premium audio and infotainment systems, announces the launch of the JBL GreenEdge audio system for the new Toyota Auris range in Europe. The Toyota Auris will also be the first to include the latest Touch & Go navigation, developed by Harman, which adds functions such as junction view, tunnel view and wider language support.

The Toyota Auris is part of a long tradition of Toyota vehicles with JBL sound systems by Harman, and the first in Europe to be equipped with the full range of innovative HARMAN technologies including JBL GreenEdge audio, Harman Infotainment solutions and AKG Microphones. The new JBL Green Edge audio system delivers a superb sound experience in the Toyota Auris while simultaneously reducing power consumption and heat generation on board. This can translate into enhanced fuel efficiency or (for hybrids) extended range. Through advanced components – such as high-powered GreenEdge amplifiers that produce more sound output for a given amount of input power – the audio system enables Toyota car buyers to stay energy-conscious without compromising on their in-car audio experience.

“We’re very excited about the in-car infotainment innovations in the Auris,” says Michael Mauser, Executive Vice President and Co-President, Infotainment and Lifestyle HARMAN. “Harman and Toyota are both leading players in the drive to deliver maximum energy efficiency and performance everywhere in the vehicle. Toyota has chosen GreenEdge systems now also for their new Auris in Europe for exactly these reasons – to raise energy efficiency while also enhancing the in-vehicle infotainment experience.”

JBL GreenEdge audio is not the only Harman innovation in the new Toyota Auris. Also making its debut appearance is the latest version of the Toyota Touch & Go multimedia satellite navigation system, developed by Harman. As easy to use as ever, the new Touch & Go system comes with an improved application platform with applications in all supported languages and ability to run in the background. In addition the system features enhanced navigation features – including junction view and tunnel view, additional TCM markets, with more intuitive message displays. The update will be available for all current users when they purchase a map update and is free of charge to Toyota Touch & Go Plus users as part of the three-year free update program.

The new JBL GreenEdge audio and Touch & Go multimedia system in the Toyota Auris goes on sale later this year.
