HARMAN–Helping Qoros 3 drivers keep in touch with their digital lifestyles
HARMAN develops ‘T-Box’, an external telematics box that provides telematics services and 3G network access for Qoros 3.
GENEVA – March 4, 2014 –HARMAN, the premium global audio and infotainment group (NYSE:HAR), announced that it will supply new Chinese car manufacturer Qoros with T-Box, a new telematics component offering 3G Network access and services to the car. Although only established in 2007, Qorosis already on its way to becoming recognised as a premium brand in China. Its image will be further enhanced with the arrival of the impressive Qoros 3. The second model to be released by this emerging Chinese automotive manufacturer, the Qoros 3 is being unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. It is the first development project HARMAN has undertaken with Qoros.
Central to the Qoros 3’s impressive array of high-quality standard equipment is the Qoros MMH (multimedia hub) with telematics-based QorosCloud connectivity. The T-Box has been developed with local technical support from infotainment specialists HARMAN and its burgeoning development team in China.
At the very heart of the Qoros 3’s QorosCloud system is the T-Box, supplied by HARMAN. This compact, hugely-capable, and upgradeable telematics device delivers many functions including acting as a data modem as well as providing data encryption/decryption. Via the T-Box, the TSP (Telematics Services Provider) is able to provide the Qoros owners with real-time 3G-connected services such as navigation, social networking. It also enables continuous POI (points-of-interest) connectivity thanks to integrated data buffering.
All of the QorosCloud features can be accessed via the Qoros 3’s standard-fitment 8in capacitive touch-screen, using smartphone-type gestures. Additionally, it’s possible to interact with QorosCloud remotely, and seamlessly, via the special app, website, smartphone, or tablet.
HARMAN has been helping drivers enjoy a safe and pleasant motoring experience for more than 60 years. The Qoros 3 range will join an estimated 25 million vehicles on the road today equipped with HARMAN audio and infotainment solutions– digital solutions that provide a dynamic, rewarding, and exceptionally valuable user experience.
