Hyundai unveils COUNTY bus equipped with Allison automatic transmission
Hyundai Motor Company debuts new COUNTY bus equipped with an Allison fully-automatic 1000 Series transmission. Customers can now experience the benefits.
SEOUL, Korea – Allison Transmission announced that it is supplying fully-automatic transmissions to Hyundai Motor Company’s COUNTY bus for the first time. Equipped with an Allison 1000 Series transmission, the new COUNTY now offers the added benefits of an automatic including easy driving, improved performance and optimized vehicle fuel efficiency.
Designed for commercial duty reliability, Allison’s 1000 Series transmissions include a high efficiency torque converter matched to a six-speed planetary gear set with two overdrive ratios. For COUNTY bus drivers, these automatics deliver rapid, smooth acceleration and efficient, continuous power compared to manual transmission equipped buses. Automatic transmissions reduce driver distraction allowing both hands to remain on the steering wheel and both eyes on the road, while avoiding the stress associated with constant gear shifting.
Chang-wook (Simon) Kim, Managing Director for Allison Transmission in Korea, said, “Both passengers and drivers generally enjoy a quiet, more comfortable experience in a vehicle equipped with an Allison fully automatic transmission. Additionally, automatic transmissions have demonstrated economic benefits in a variety of applications, including lower maintenance costs as compared to manual transmissions.”
