The 2014 RAV4 is the first Toyota SUV to feature the superb audio performance and energy efficiency of the JBL Green Edge sound system

GENEVA – March 4, 2014 HARMAN, the premium global audio and infotainment group (NYSE:HAR), today announced the latest step in its long-standing collaboration with Toyota. The 2014 RAV4 by Toyota, which is on show in Geneva, will be the first-ever Toyota SUV to hit the roads with the JBL® Green Edge™ audio system. JBL® Green Edge™ blends green design with impressive energy savings, but without compromising in any way on the traditionally superior audio performance for which HARMAN products are famed worldwide.

HARMAN has been working with Toyota since 1996, delivering outstanding JBL® audio performance across many Toyota vehicle ranges.JBL Green Edge technology made its Toyota debut back in 2012, but the latest RAV4 is the first Sports Utility Vehicle which Toyota is equipping with Green Edge audio. JBL Green Edge audio systems deliver eco-friendly solutions into the vehicle, using innovative amplifier and speaker technologies to raise component and system efficiency. Weighing less than conventional units, Green Edge components are powerful, compact and energy-efficient. They also dissipate less heat.

“We’re excited to bring the latest JBL Green Edge audio system to drivers of the Toyota RAV4,” says Michael Mauser, President Lifestyle Division, HARMAN. “The RAV is an immensely popular vehicle and trailblazer for the SUV movement, and the latest model looks set to continue Toyota’s success. We are proud to be part of the Toyota RAV story, and are confident that JBL Green Edge audio will be a perfect match for the vehicle.”

The JBL Green Edge audio system to feature in the new RAV4 certainly has the premium components to deliver a compelling sound experience to drivers and passengers. It features eleven JBL speakers with titanium-laminate tweeters for enhanced audio accuracy, plus a 200-mm dual-voice coil subwoofer for rich bass notes, a 440 W amplifier, 24-bit digital-to-analog converters and a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) that provides equalization, spectral management and time alignment.
