Local companies join forces to make renewable heating clearer for Leamington.

Announcement is made as GreenACT unveils heat pump installation at the newly converted Victoria Chambers in Leamington Spa; 61 percent of its heating is now from free, renewable energy.

Two local companies have teamed up to help Leamington property owners make sense of popular, new renewable heating technologies and the latest government financial incentives.

Leamington Spa-based GreenACT Ltd – an independent renewable energy specialist which serves customers in Warwickshire on the design and installation of renewable heating technologies – and Rheams (Plumbing and Heating) Ltd, a locally renowned domestic heating installer with 40 years’ heritage in the industry – wanted to put an end to customer confusion and provide the very best end-to-end local service.

The partnership will see the two companies working together to provide full project management from the idea stage through to installation and commissioning. GreenACT will continue to offer end-to-end responsibility for the project, starting with the upfront advice (including a free, no obligation meeting) and full renewable heating system design, while the experienced team from Rheams will undertake the installation.

“Confusion is rife when it comes to renewable technologies – what is available? Which technology would best suit the property and its needs? How can they work with each other and with existing boilers and what benefits do they offer? But this doesn’t need to be the case,” says GreenACT director, Peter Leith. “Adopting renewable heating may at first seem like a leap into the unknown, but with sound advice it can be a straightforward step to saving money in the long run as well as reducing carbon footprint. For example, a family living in a medium-sized property with an oil-fired boiler could cut their fuel costs in half with a well-designed heat pump system.”

Explains Rheams’ company owner, Martin Burns: “By teaming up with GreenACT we’re able to offer our extensive customer base in Leamington Spa and the surrounding areas a more complete service. We see this partnership as great news for Leamington; renewables are future-proof, efficient, money-saving and straightforward, and by working with GreenACT, we’re confident we are going to be able to deliver these benefits to our customers.”

Central Leamington Spa building goes green

This week, GreenACT unveiled its latest installation at Victoria Chambers. The three-storey property in central Leamington Spa, owned by landlord Gurj Johal, has been transformed from derelict council offices to exemplary student accommodation and a series of shops. The two companies worked together to design and install room heating and hot /cold water services in the property via two air source heat pumps, located to the rear of the building, which are supported by a gas boiler.

“The renewable energy heat pumps provide 92 percent of my property’s heating requirement, and I’m thrilled that this means I’m set to save around £1,000 per year, compared to a traditional gas heating system. That’s the sort of saving that really makes a difference to local companies,” says Johal.

Helping property owners with legislation

“The government plans for 15 percent of the country’s heating to come from renewable sources by 2020. From more or less a standing start, that’s quite a target. Renewables are here to stay and anyone considering a new heating system or who is building a new house or extension should seriously consider what solar technologies and heat pumps could do for them,” continues Leith.

“Last month, the Government launched the much-heralded Green Deal.  By offering financial support, the Green Deal will open the market to low-cost, low carbon heating systems that have previously only been available to those with the cash to invest. The conversion costs are recovered from savings the property owner makes on their heating bill each month, meaning they’re not out of pocket. GreenACT can help you choose and install options that best meet your needs.”
