Up to 10 year warranties can be offered and paid for in customers’ homes via Paypal

Viessmann has made it possible for installers to buy extended boiler warranties for homeowners, speeding-up the purchase process and eliminating the need for the customer to wait for the manufacturer to contact them with paperwork.

When installers sell Viessmann’s most popular domestic boiler, the Vitodens 100-W, they can now arrange an extended warranty for the technology online. Only a few simple steps are required after registering the newly-installed boiler with Gas Safe on the Viessmann Installer Portal website. Payment is made securely via PayPal.

The Vitodens 100-W boiler comes with five years warranty cover as standard, plus a 10-year warranty on the Inox-Radial Heat Exchanger, but many customers like the peace of mind of cover for a longer period. Installers have the flexibility of offering customers a range of warranty plans, priced at just £25 for six years, £50 for seven, £100 for eight, £150 for nine, and £225 for 10 years.

“Despite the obsession in certain parts of the industry with providing extended warranties of increasing lengths free of charge, in our experience end users are not driving this and, it is not a deal breaking factor to have a standard warranty of five years.  However, where there is a requirement to match a longer warranty this new system makes it easier for installers to offer customers the extended warranty that suits them, and easier for homeowners to make the purchase, if they would rather buy it direct,” says Darren McMahon, Viessmann marketing director. “Before now, the installer would ask the homeowner if they’d like an extended warranty, then pass on this information to Viessmann, who in turn would contact the homeowner with paperwork to make the sale. Now the installer can choose to build the warranty into their package for the customer and sell it at the time of installation. It is a much better system for all.”
