Installers to benefit from remote performance monitoring, automatic fault notifications, and easier service planning

Leading international heating systems manufacturer Viessmann has announced at EcoBuild (ExCel, London, March 8-10) that it is introducing the first boilers with WiFi and internet connectivity. This will help installers increase customer loyalty and repeat business by responding promptly to automatic fault notifications, with the added convenience of remote performance monitoring and online service-planning.

Unlike previous connectivity technology, which linked end users’ smartphones with thermostats, this is the first to connect directly with a domestic boiler and the first to remotely provide installers with comprehensive diagnostics data.

All new Viessmann Vitodens 100-W/111-W and 200-W/222-F/242-F gas condensing boilers, which go on sale in September, can be WiFi enabled. All 100 and 200 range models installed since 2007 can be WiFi enabled with a £60 control accessory, on sale from September. Internet-connectivity is achieved by connecting to the homeowners’ WiFi.

By using Viessmann’s new, free Vicare app - for Apple and Android smartphones, as well as the iPod touch, iPad, and Android tablets - installers will be able to see a summary of the boiler’s performance, remind homeowners when a service is due, and receive instant fault alerts by text or email with a diagnosis of the problem and a spare parts display.

The same connectivity technology will allow installers to remotely monitor their boiler installations in one place with the Vitoguide digital service, which can be used via tablet or desktop for access at any time to a live-feed of system performance.

By evaluating customers’ problems remotely, installers can potentially save on late night call outs, and can contact the homeowner with full details of the issue and a plan to resolve it quickly and cost-effectively.

Installers can also use the Vitoguide digital service to simplify commissioning, plan service schedules and make arrangements to attend customers’ properties. Messages and push notifications can be sent directly to the end user’s smartphone via their Vicare app.

The new Viessmann Vitodens 100-W/111-W range has an increased modulation ratio up to 1:6, with outputs of 4.3-19, 4.3-26, and 5.8-35 kW. The new Viessmann 200-W range has an increased modulation ratio of up to 19:1, with outputs of 1.9-13, 1.9-19, 2.6-26, and 1.8-35 kW.

The 200-W range also has Viessmann’s new and unique automatic flue gas adaption, which ensures the boiler matches its test condition performances in all real-life ambient conditions and under all operating variables.

Viessmann’s marketing director, Darren McMahon said: “Internet-enabled boilers are a big step forward in boiler development and Viessmann is the first manufacturer to achieve this. This technology gives installers the opportunity to manage servicing and repairs more conveniently while providing the highest levels of customer service, enhancing the prospects of valuable repeat business and new referral business.”

The Viessmann Group is one of the leading international manufacturers of heating, cooling and climate control technology. Founded in 1917, the family business maintains a staff of approximately 11,600 employees and generates 2.2 billion Euro in annual group turnover.
