Viessmann secures double win at Energy Efficiency and Renewables Awards
Leading heating systems manufacturer, Viessmann, had a successful evening at the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Awards 2013, securing two award wins.
Held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, on September 12, the awards saw Viessmann’s installation partner Hatfields Plumbing, Heating and Gas Engineers recognised as ‘High Efficiency Boiler Installer’ of the year, and an installation of its renewable heating technologies top the ‘Commercial Project’ category.
Based in Lancashire, Hatfields Plumbing has been installing Viessmann’s products for more than 20 years. “With over 40 years experience within the heating industry we know that it is essential to provide our clients with reliable, competitively priced products. Working closely with Viessmann and installing their high efficiency boilers on a regular basis allows our clients to benefit from the significant cost savings these products offer” says managing director, Daniel Hatfield.
This year’s Commercial Project award was presented to Viessmann specifier and Passive House specialist, bere:architects, for its retrofit of the Mayville Community Centre, Islington, also the first certified Passivhaus non-domestic retrofit in the UK. The architecture firm specified a combination of a Viessmann Vitocal 300-G 8 kW ground source heat pump and solar thermal technology to provide the centre with heating and hot water.
The building was transformed in 2011, by a complete retrofit. Independent monitoring shows that the centre now consumes precisely 82 per cent less total (heating, lighting, sockets, ventilation etc.) energy than before being retrofitted.
“It is a huge honour to be recognised by the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Awards; not just once, but twice,” says Graham Russell, Viessmann’s managing director.
“Hatfields is a long-standing installation partner of ours, that has taken our commercial products to companies across the North West of England; and our relationship with bere:architects has seen us work together on numerous projects, both with domestic and renewable technologies. These awards are a fitting recognition of the quality work both organisations offer their customers every day, and we are very happy for all involved.”
