Peter Larsson named CEO of Protect Data/Pointsec
STOCKHOLM, Sweden – September 20, 2006 – Protect Data AB today announced that it has appointed Peter Larsson as chief executive officer, succeeding Thomas Bill. Since joining Protect Data in 2002, Peter Larsson has managed the company’s main subsidiary Pointsec Mobile Tech¬nologies, the global leader and the provider of the de facto standard for enterprise security software for laptop and desktop PCs, PDAs and smartphones. In 2005 he was named deputy CEO of Protect Data, while remaining with Pointsec. Peter Larsson will assume the CEO duties on October 1, 2006. Thomas Bill will leave the executive leadership of Protect Data, following his appointment as CEO of Orc Software AB, but he will remain a co-opted Director of the company, with the intention to be elected to the Board at the 2007 shareholders meeting. Thomas Bill will also retain his investments in the company, through his partnership in Monterro Holding Ltd, the largest single shareholder of Protect Data/Pointsec. “Based on my confidence in the strength of our offering and the great potential we see globally for our solutions, I am very encouraged by receiving the trust to further develop the business of Protect Data/Pointsec,” said Peter Larsson. ”Peter Larsson is clearly the first choice as our new CEO,” said Martin Bjäringer, Chairman of the Board, Protect Data. ”Peter has made decisive contributions to our international success when launching the Pointsec brand globally. In particular, he has been instrumental for our successful entry into the U.S. market, which we believe is the single most important factor behind our company’s superior performance the last few years. We also appreciate Thomas Bill’s choice to share his experience through his continued presence on the Board.” Several major shareholders have stated their intention to nominate Thomas Bill to the Board of Directors at the 2007 shareholders meeting. In conjunction with the management changes, the Protect Data Board of Directors has decided to propose to change the company name to Pointsec AB. This reflects the growing importance of the Pointsec brand and solutions for the company’s overall business.
