Pointsec Mobile Technologies signs agreement with WM-data IT security company Protect Data's subsidiary, Pointsec Mobile Technologies, has entered into an agreement with WM-data AB regarding the supply of the security solution Pointsec®. WM-data will use Pointsec® to protect sensitive information on its portable computers in all Nordic countries. The order is estimated to be worth just over SEK 2 million. "Within the consultancy industry a large portion of the employees are for obvious reasons using mobile devices. With this agreement, WM-data is ensuring that its customers can feel secure in the knowledge that sensitive information will not come into the hands of unauthorised parties. The agreement is also further evidence of how well Pointsec® works in a large organisation, even when it is geographically distributed," says Jonas Areskoug, European Manager for Pointsec. WM-data has more than 8,000 employees, and its turnover last year amounted to over SEK 13 billion. The Pointsec licenses are primarily intended for WM-data's employees, although WM-data will also be offering Pointsec as a service to customers who have outsourced their IT operations to WM-data. Pointsec is a security solution that uses encryption to protect all information and software on desktop PCs, portable and handheld computers. Only the user able to give the correct identity and password may access the information on the computer. Pointsec has been developed for large organisations and companies, and is adapted in such a way that it can be simply and cost effectively installed and administered centrally over a network. WM-data will be using this to support users around the Nordic region. Pointsec Mobile Technologies has previously had considerable success within the IT and telecom sector (Cisco, Ericsson, etc.) and among public authorities (the US Department of Justice, the US Department of Defense, etc.). In March this year, the Pointsec product received top marks in a test carried out by SC Magazine, the USA's most widely read security magazine. Pointsec received the comprehensive five star grade (five being the highest) and the accolade 'Best Buy'.
