Pointsec Mobile Technologies supplies Pointsec® to Telenor - signs agreement with Telenor's subsidiary ZebSign The IT security company Protect Data's subsidiary, Pointsec Mobile Technologies, has entered into an agreement with Telenor's subsidiary, ZebSign AS, regarding further sale of the security solution Pointsec® to Telenor's eRAF project. The order initially covers 1,250 licenses, with the potential for 15,000 licenses within a year. "Many companies, including Telenor, are increasingly working with mobile terminals. We view the fact that ZebSign and Telenor are choosing Pointsec® as their solution as further confirmation of how well the product works in large organisations," says Jonas Areskoug, European Manager for Pointsec. "Pointsec is a well laid-out product that could be an extremely good solution for our customers and particularly for our parent company Telenor. Our goal is that all 15.000 employees at Telenor will use and feel the security of the solution. It could also set the trend for security solutions in the rest of Norwegian society," says Andreas Andersen, Strategic Director at ZebSign AS. ZebSign AS is jointly owned by Telenor AS and Posten AS, with each party holding 50%. The company was established in March 2001. Its business is to develop and supply citizen certificates to all Norwegian citizens, outsourced PKI solutions to large companies and to take on responsibility for the purchase and operation of PKI solutions in the parent companies. In the 'eRAF project' (e-Ready Arena Fornebu) Telenor is concentrating its business around the Oslo area, and will be gradually moving into the new head office at Fornebu during the coming year. Pointsec is a security solution that uses encryption to protect all information and software on desktop PCs, portable and handheld computers. Only the user able to give the correct identity and password may access the information on the computer. Pointsec has been developed for large organisations and companies, and is adapted in such a way that it can be simply and cost effectively installed and administered centrally over a network. Pointsec Mobile Technologies has previously had considerable success within the IT and telecom sector (Cisco, Ericsson, etc.) and among public authorities (the US Department of Justice, the US Department of Defense, etc.). In March this year, the Pointsec product received top marks in a test carried out by SC Magazine, the USA's most widely read security magazine. Pointsec received the comprehensive five star grade (five being the highest) and the accolade 'Best Buy'.
