Protect Data enters into collaboration with Sybari - Supplementing the product range with Antigen, which provides virus protection for MS Exchange and Lotus Domino Protect Data has entered into a collaboration with the world-leading US anti-virus manufacturer Sybari. One feature of the collaboration is that Protect Data will become a distributor of the virus check system Antigen. Antigen is one of only a few systems that can effectively check for viruses in mail databases such as MS Exchange and Lotus Notes. Antigen is a system that has been developed specifically for the extremely demanding task of checking for viruses in mail databases. Few of the world's anti-virus manufacturers have succeeded in producing systems that can manage to check the large volumes of data passing through a mail database, and even fewer have succeeded in developing products that do not affect the performance and capacity of the mail servers. Antigen, from the leading US company Sybari, can handle both of these tasks, and the system works just as well on Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. In total, 87% of all virus infections in the last year have taken place via e-mail. There are now a number of products that can check for viruses at client or gateway-server level. However, for large companies and organisations, it is not sufficient simply to check incoming e-mails or to look for viruses which have infected individual clients via floppy disks or mail messages. When companies have large numbers of employees, there is always the risk of an individual user, either via a floppy disk or in some other way, introducing a virus which then spreads internally via e-mail, for example. As this is just as great a threat to IT security as infections coming from outside, Sybari has developed Antigen. Antigen is the only product available on the market for Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino which guarantees virus scanning of each and every e-mail message in real time, with little or no additional load on servers. With its unique Antigen product, Sybari is offering by far the best protection and service on the market for safeguarding a company's e- mail traffic. Sybari is the only company to offer five different, well- known anti-virus engines and "real time in-memory scanning" of incoming and outgoing e-mail, as well as Information Store for Exchange in one and the same product. Protect Data is already a distributor of Sophos Anti-Virus and the content security system MIMEsweeper on the Nordic market. Birka Energi is just one of the customers that have already purchased Antigen from Protect Data. "With Antigen in our range, we can now offer comprehensive protection for mail communication. Antigen is a perfect complement to Sophos and MIMEsweeper, and by using all three you achieve extremely good protection against all types of virus, no matter where the infection originates," says Johan Henrikson, Head of Business Development at Protect Data Sverige AB. Protect Data will show Antigen from Sybari at Infosecurity 2001 trade fair in Stockholm 24-26 September, where Sybari also will be present.
