Protect Data growing fastest! 1st in the computer industry and 4th overall The Swedish IT security company Protect Data is displaying the fastest organic growth of all companies in the computer industry in Sweden. This can be seen from the list of Sweden's fastest growing companies, presented today by the growth consultant Ahrens Rapid Growth in collaboration with the Swedish broadsheet Svenska Dagbladet. During 2000, Protect Data had 127 employees and a turnover of SEK 290 million. Protect Data, the Nordic region's leading IT security company, has reported an average annual organic growth of 92.5% over the last five years. This puts the company in first place in the computer industry and fourth place overall. "Growing as quickly, profitably and sustainably as Protect Data has done is a fantastic performance," says Thomas Ahrens, MD of Ahrens Rapid Growth. This is the first time Protect Data has been included on the list, which has been published every year since 1993. Protect Data is reporting by far the strongest organic growth of all companies in the computer industry - the next company, Virtus, came eighth overall. "It has always been our goal to grow while retaining profitability, and our position in the list shows that we have succeeded. We are working in an industry that has reported extremely positive growth in recent years, and there is nothing to indicate that the need for products and services in the field of IT security will decline. Quite the reverse, in fact. We should be able to continue displaying a very positive growth trend in the future," says Carl Rosvall, MD of Protect Data. Ahrens' definition of a growth company is one which, in the last five years, has experienced an average organic increase in turnover of at least 25%, has 50 employees and a turnover of at least SEK 50 million. This year's list contains a total of 62 companies. Last year, the list was topped by IT consultants and manpower companies, but this year production companies within traditional industries are highly placed.
