Protect Data receives order from Nokia IT-security company Oy Protect Data Ab, the Finnish subsidiary of Protect Data, has formed a group licence agreement with Nokia for the delivery of IT security software Pointsectm. Nokia is to protect most of the personal computers within the group with Pointsec. The order runs over four years as a rental agreement and is worth at least 20 MSEK, and with a positive outcome up to 40 MSEK. Nokia will change to Pointsec from the security system currently being used and the company will pay licence fees and support charges as and when the software program is installed in the group's computers. Remuneration will be paid on an annual basis and Protect Data's earnings can therefore be expected to grow exponentially, reaching their highest point at the end of the period of the agreement. The agreement will run up to and including 2004 with the possibility of an extension to this period. Pointsec, an IT security system developed by the Protect Data subsidiary Pointsec Mobile Technologies, protects all information in portable and stationary computers. Only users inputting the correct identity and password can gain access to information on the computers. Pointsec has been developed to meet the needs of large companies and organisations and has been adapted to allow for smooth and easy installation and centralised administration across a network. "This is an important order for us. IT and telecommunications are among our prioritised target groups and we have signed similar agreements with leading companies in the industry. This agreement will consolidate our position in this segment, says Thomas Bill, president of Pointsec Mobile Technologies. Other clients using Pointsec products include Telia, SEB, Cap Gemini, Volvo and the US Department of Justice. Pointsec Mobile Technologies also develops security systems for mobile terminals, such as palmtop computers and smart telephones.
