Protect Data signs agreement with Rainbow Technologies IT security company Protect Data has signed a long-term cooperation agreement with American company Rainbow Technologies. The partnership means that Protect Data will be the exclusive distributor of Rainbow's security solutions for the Internet and e-commerce on the Nordic market. Rainbow Technologies has operated since 1984 and now specialises in security solutions for the Internet and e-commerce. The company's customers include the U.S. Government, several e-commerce marketplaces and Internet banks. Rainbow's headquarters are located in California and the company has several offices in Europe and Asia. The company's products are available in more than 100 countries through around 50 suppliers. Rainbow is registered on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the name RNBO. Rainbow's leading products are CryptoSwift eCommerce accelerators and iKey workstation security solutions . The CryptoSwift eCommerce Accelerator is a hardware card or an external unit which accelerates popular security protocols typically routed through a server. By accelerating cryptographic functions on the card, CryptoSwift optimises server performance and reduces customer wait times. CryptoSwift accelerates certificate-based user identification and secure transactions (SSL) for fast and secure online transactions. The hardware increases throughput on e-commerce Web servers and works in partnership with a PKI- certificate (x509) from Entrust and other PKI suppliers to give customers security with high performance. The iKey workstation security solution is a hardware key inserted in the computer's USB port and provides users with two-factor authentication. The key can store electronic certificates and perform cryptographic functions. The user can encrypt e-mail and files and run other PKI applications. The iKey workstation security solution offers the same level of security and functionality as a smartcard, without having to install a card reader. "Protect Data can now offer a system which makes secure transactions on e- commerce sites and Internet banks much faster. Customers have shorter waiting times while retaining security, which is obviously in the interests of both customers and e-commerce marketplaces," said Anders Nygren, Product Manager at Protect Data AB. "As security issues become the critical for effective business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce and for securing corporate network environments, Rainbow is pleased to partner with Protect Data AB to provide Nordic customers with the industry's best security solutions," said Karine Guyon, Manager EMEA Channel Sales, Rainbow Technologies. "The agreement is important as it means that we will increase our product range with market-leading security solutions for secure transactions over the Internet. The fact that Protect Data will be the only distributor in the Nordic region for Rainbow's products also proves that we occupy a leading position on the Nordic IT security market," said Carl Rosvall, CEO of Protect Data AB.
