Protect Data signs framework agreement with The Danish Government regarding PKI solutions - Opportunity to supply at national and local authority level Protect Data*s Danish subsidiary company Protect Data A/S has, along with TDC Internet, a subsidiary of Tele Danmark, signed a framework agreement with National Procurement Ltd (SKI) in Denmark regarding the supply of digital certificates. The agreement means that the Danish national and local authorities will undertake to use PKI solutions developed by e.g. TDC Internet and Protect Data. Denmark is at the forefront internationally as regards the public sector use of digital certificates, which simplify communication with citizens and rationalise internal work. Just like Sweden, Denmark passed a law last year which will pave the way for the increased use of electronic signatures with the aid of digital certificates. TDC Internet (formerly Tele Danmark Internet) will be one of the suppliers to the Danish Government and will use infra structure, technology and know-how supplied by Protect Data. "There is no doubt that electronic signatures will become increasingly important. For example, we are working with a number of public institutions that want to combine digital certificates administered by TDC Internet with Protect Data,s applications for secure e-mail and Internet usage. The legislation and the latest framework agreement are a clear indication that the Danish Government wants to increase the use of electronic signatures," says Stuart Peters, MD of Protect Data A/S. The SKI agreement is opening the door to a series of solutions and price models covering everything from basic application, such as signing forms, to specially designed and more advanced solutions. Thanks to the framework agreement, it will be easier for local authorities, administrations and institutions with an aim to focus on eletronic signatures to purchase and use PKI solutions. ,,Public authorities and institutions are important in the spread of electronic signatures. The educational sector in Denmark is taking the lead, and we hope that more institutions will start using this technology to implement rationalisations and increase digital functionality,0/00 says Stuart Peters.
