It’s always a ‘Good Friday’ when making cornflake cakes

If you’re looking for a tasty treat for the whole family this Easter, then be sure to try this delicious chocolate cornflake and chestnut cake recipe from Merchant Gourmet. This recipe is an original family favourite, but with the added texture and flavour of chestnuts. Easter is the perfect time of year to celebrate with food and your family, so if you’re in the kitchen cooking up an Easter feast, get your children involved in making these chocolatey treats. This recipe takes me back to my childhood, making cornflake and rice crispy cakes with my mother, then waiting quietly till she had spooned out the ingredients so I could run off with the bowl!” Chocolate cornflake and chestnut cakes Ingredients: • 50g butter • 125g dark chocolate, broken into small pieces • 2 tbsp golden syrup • 50g Merchant Gourmet Chestnuts, chopped • 80g cornflakes How to cook it: 1. Place the butter and the chocolate pieces in a saucepan with the golden syrup. Slowly melt over low heat, stirring. When the mixture is well blended, stir in the cornflakes and chestnuts. 2. Place some small paper cake cases on a tray. Fill each one with a heaped tablespoon of the mixture. Put in the fridge to set.
