JOBS CREATED AS DISCOUNTER OF THE YEAR OPENS
The UK’s Discounter of the Year*, Netto, has announced plans is to open a brand new discount supermarket in Telford. The store, which will create 13 new jobs and represents a significant multi-million pound business investment into the area, will be located on Turreff Avenue in Donnington. Netto’s discount format has flourished in Europe with more than 1,150 stores across Denmark, Germany, Poland and Sweden. Netto is translating that success to the UK where it was recently voted Discounter of the Year* by British shoppers. The supermarket will have a sales area of 794m² and will offer customers over 1,400 core lines, around a third of which are famous brand lines. The new Netto will officially open its doors to the public at 8.30am on Thursday 8th July 2010. Netto’s UK managing director, Charles Kay, says: “After being voted ‘Discounter of the Year 2009’* by our shoppers, more and more people are discovering that Netto offers unbeatable value for money with no compromise on quality so I’m delighted that even more shoppers in Telford will benefit with the opening of our latest store. “To celebrate we’re having a special preview evening at the supermarket on Wednesday 7th July from 6pm – 7pm** and I’d like to invite all local residents to join me and the team at this event. It will be a great way to take a first look at the new store and sample a variety of excellent quality food and wines exclusive to Netto.” The supermarket’s official opening will also feature live entertainment from a DJ , Bubbles the Clown together with his sidekick Scotty the Dog, the Netto Prize Pod (a chance to win up to £250 shopping vouchers), free refreshments and balloons.
