Continuum enjoys 'best' awards success

Leading visitor attraction operator, Continuum is celebrating a run of award successes after four of its attractions have been placed in five of the tourism industry’s top awards in as many weeks.  According to Juliana Delaney, Continuum’s chief executive, keeping up with the challenges of a rapidly-changing customer service scene has been key to the group’s success and, as these award successes demonstrate, is paying dividends:

  • Continuum’s newest attraction, York’s Chocolate Story, which opened in York in March 2012, last week (5 December 2013) won the prestigious accolade Best Leisure Destination in the BETA British Youth Travel Awards.
  • Spinnaker Tower, in Portsmouth, which has been part of Continuum’s group since 1995, has won two awards: a Silver for Best Attraction at the Tourism South East’s Beautiful South Awards, and a staffing award from the World Federation of Great Towers, based on positive visitor experience.
  • Also honoured at the Tourism South East’s Beautiful South Awards, was Kent Life’s Tony Ward who was highly commended for his dedication to providing visitors with outstanding customer service.
  • Continuum’s multi-award winning The Real Mary King’s Close, in Edinburgh, is a finalist in the Hotel/Leisure and Travel CIM Marketing Excellence Awards for their Imagine… campaign.

As Juliana explains: “Society has changed a lot in the last few years, the reality of consumers today is that they expect more – sometimes far more than it is ever possible to give – and do not hold back if their unrealistic expectations have not been fulfilled, damning the source of their dissatisfaction with just a few casual words and a click of the mouse or a Tweet. Excellent customer service is one of the foundations of our 30-year success and underpins our expertise as operators, enabling us to work with different partners with our team providing the best in guest experience. We have used all that knowledge to develop our Guest Service Charter and embed the company’s visions, values and excellence into guest service – it’s a key part of our business strategy for future growth.”
