Did you know that it takes up to 85 volunteers, and 600 hours of volunteering, to put on a show at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre? And now the theatre is looking for volunteers to join the theatre’s Board to support the running of the successful venue.

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre (JRT) on Haxby Road is a vibrant hub of live entertainment, hosting productions from pantomime and musicals staged by talented local groups to touring performances by national and international musicians all year round, in a stunning art deco building.

For the last 12 years, the Theatre has been run by a charitable trust to provide an affordable venue to over 30 performing hirers, thanks to the efforts of its 150 regular volunteers. These volunteers come from all walks of life, be they retired former members of amateur dramatic societies, or youngsters wanting to learn the skills of stage management and the technical aspects of theatre.

The JRT is currently looking for people interested in theatre to join its board of directors and act as trustees of the charity. The posts are those of Company Secretary and Events and Fundraising Director, and, although unpaid roles, they offer a great deal of job satisfaction and involvement in live theatre. The theatre is also always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help with day-to-day tasks, from back stage roles to marketing and promotions.

For further information please visit www.jrtheatre.co.uk/vacancies or call Dan on 07511 123659.

The closing date for applications is Friday 28th June.
