Custom configuration and standards-based architecture enable faster delivery of high-performance networking and security solutions

Freiburg, Germany, 25 September 2012 – Pyramid Computer GmbH, an innovator of custom professional IT solutions, has introduced NetFlex ELX, a modular server platform allowing Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and system OEMs to satisfy customers’ networking and security applications at competitive prices and short turnaround times.

NetFlex ELX provides a choice of processing subsystems based on the Intel® Celeron™ up to Xeon™ processor, plus a portfolio of network-interface modules that are installed via the server front panel taking advantage of Pyramid’s Easy Lan eXchange (ELX) technology. Front-panel installation supports rapid system integration and also allows easy upgrading in the field without removing the server unit from the rack.

“NetFlex ELX can dramatically simplify inventory management and accelerate system integration, ultimately enabling vendors to satisfy individual customer requirements quickly and at a highly competitive price,” said Stephan Bäckert, Business Development Manager, Network & Security, Pyramid Computer.

Pyramid has a large portfolio of ELX modules for network connectivity, including copper or fibre Gigabit Ethernet modules with up to eight ports, and two- or four-port 10Gigabit Ethernet modules. There is also a variety of modules offering features such as special VPN-acceleration or intelligent filtering. All modules are available with an optional bypass for network traffic, enhancing the system’s ability to handle software or hardware failures in applications such as transparent filtering or deep-packet-inspection (DPI).

Unlike platforms built using proprietary hardware, NetFlex ELX is based on industry standards and server hardware. This enables future technologies such as processors and network interfaces to be incorporated quickly and cost effectively, allowing the flexibility to maintain leading-edge performance at the most competitive price.

Major features of NetFlex ELX:

From single Celeron up to dual XEON Sandy-Bridge-EP (up to 16 Cores)
