Pyramid exhibits interactive, in-store e-commerce systems at Retail Business Technology Expo 2012

Freiburg, Germany, 9 March 2012 – Pyramid Computer, specialist manufacturer of custom IT systems, will be showing its polytouch 32 all-in-one multi-touch system for point-of-sale (POS) and in-store e-commerce applications at Retail Business Technology Expo 2012, taking place at London’s Earls Court, 13-14 March. Pyramid will be co-exhibiting with Intel (Stand #440) and international software partners Corporate Karma and OXID eSales AG. Corporate Karma will be demonstrating its “Alpha Alien” App for retail product promotion on the innovative Pyramid polytouch action table and OXID eSales AG will be showing its shopping cart software for e-commerce and multi-channel retailers.

In the in-store environment, the polytouch 32 all-in-one system presents an innovative kiosk solution that connects to the web to facilitate multi-channel strategies such as cross-selling, product promotion applications and social network integration. For example, the system was recently deployed by Wincor Nixdorf for multi-touch, cross-channel order-taking systems in the new Marks & Spencer store on the Champs-Elysées, Paris. The e-commerce kiosks offer a stylish design, are easy to use, efficient and highly interactive.

The technology supports 10 simultaneous touches at an ultra-fast 10 millisecond response time while rejecting palms, allowing developers to create a natural, intuitive and responsive user experience.

polytouch 32 is a highly compact, frameless plug & play device, making it flexible for standalone use or for integration into counters, desks, totems or kiosks in any professional environment. A range of additional hardware components can be added to the system via extension modules, depending on application requirements. These include barcode- or RFID-readers, speakers, Bluetooth modules and cameras.

The polytouch action table, to be demonstrated by Corporate Karma with its Alpha Alien App on the stand, is a desk constructed of semi-transparent white acrylic with an integrated polytouch 32 system. It incorporates 150 programmable high-brightness LEDs and full HD LCD screen (1920x1080), offering a wide viewing angle and non-reflective, solid glass surface. Integrated imagers permit objects or documents placed on the glass surface to be recognised and registered. Furthermore, the table offers the power of the latest generation of Intel processors (Core i7-2600) with HD 2000 graphics, giving developers the creative freedom to incorporate even the most advanced multi-user and 3D functionality.

The Corporate Karma app supports the virtual brand “Alpha Alien” and its energy drink “Shai Hulud”. The app is specifically designed for the retail food and beverage industry to facilitate product promotion and engage younger target groups at the POS. It demonstrates how a stationary multi-touch device like polytouch can be used to increase brand awareness and leverage sales in an intuitive and entertaining way.

Also on the stand, OXID eSales AG will be presenting a broad range of value-added Internet shop services for online retailers.
