Pyrosequencing appoints industry veteran to manage European sales force

PYROSEQUENCING APPOINTS INDUSTRY VETERAN TO MANAGE EUROPEAN SALES FORCE Uppsala, Sweden, September 24, 2001- Pyrosequencing AB (Stockholm: PYRO A), a provider of complete applied genetic analysis systems, today announces the appointment of Mats Bergström as European Sales Director. Mr. Bergström, 44, was previously head of the PCR and Consumables Business Unit of Applied Biosystems Europe, a part of Applera Corp., and brings more than 20 years of sales experience to Pyrosequencing. Prior to joining Pyrosequencing, Mr. Bergström spent eight years with Applied Biosystems (part of Applera/Perkin-Elmer), serving also as European Product Group Manager for molecular biology reagents and as Biotechnology Marketing Manager in the Nordic region. Previously, he was Sales Manager, Sweden and Norway, for Pharmacia LKB Biotechnology AB for four years from 1989. He has also worked for Beckman Instruments AB in various sales positions. Mr. Bergström began his career in the industry as a sales engineer in clinical chemistry systems at LKB Clinicon & Boehringer Mannheim Scandinavia AB.
