FAM AB, owned by Wallenberg Investments AB acquires 25 percent of Qarlbo Energy, a subsidiary of Qarlbo AB, owned by Conni Jonsson and family. Qarlbo Energy is a pioneer in green hydrogen and fossil-free energy systems. The intention is to further grow and develop the platform of knowledge, insights, networks, and capital that the company has started to build up.

Qarlbo Energy has great opportunities to take a leading position in the development of hydrogen-based fossil-free technology. Through joint ownership, there is an opportunity to further develop the platform and networks, as well as the chance to make additional investments. The aim is to cultivate ideas, increase knowledge and to invest in new projects and companies in Sweden and internationally.

Having Qarlbo AB and FAM AB as owners, Qarlbo Energy has access to a unique network of contacts in Sweden and internationally with representatives from companies, research, and investors.

“We are happy to be able to contribute to the development of Qarlbo Energy and their efforts in hydrogen-based fossil-free technology. The company operates in an exciting field that we look forward to following and which can have a significant positive impact on the climate and Swedish industry,” says Håkan Buskhe, CEO of FAM AB.

“Access to green hydrogen will be crucial for the success of the climate transition. At the same time, development in the area is still in its infancy. Qarlbo Energy will contribute to accelerating development through investments in projects, either alone or together with other investors. But also, by developing ideas and driving initiatives," says Per-Arne Blomqvist, CEO of Qarlbo AB.

Through its subsidiaries Nilsson Energy and REH2, Qarlbo Energy has already begun the establishment of an infrastructure for fossil-free transport. REH2 will build 24 filling stations for green hydrogen in Sweden by 2025. The total investment amounts to approximately SEK 500 million and is co-financed with the EU and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.

Qarlbo Energy has also invested in Singapore-based Wavemaker Impact. Wavemaker Impact is a venture capital fund for investments in early-stage ideas and smaller companies with a focus on developing fossil-free energy solutions.

As a result of FAM becoming a partner, the board of Qarlbo Energy has been expanded. The new chairman is Pär Nuder, former Minister of Finance with extensive board experience. The other members are Håkan Buskhe and Magnus Fernström from FAM and Conni Jonsson and Per-Arne Blomqvist from Qarlbo. The CEO is Johan Jemdahl.
