Quantum’s latest StorNext software enhancements and new Scalar LTFS appliance to make European debut at IBC2012
StorNext also highlighted in two IBC innovation award finalist submissions
London, 8 August 2012 – IBC2012 – Quantum Corp., a proven global expert in data protection and big data management, will debut its StorNext 4.3 software and Scalar Linear Tape File System (LTFS) appliance for the first time in Europe at this year’s IBC2012 show, hall 7, stand G30.
Additionally, reflecting its role as the leading technology for high-performance content sharing in media and entertainment, StorNext® is a key element in solutions from Turner Sports and Telestream/NASCAR, who were both named as finalists for the IBC Innovation Award. The winners will be announced at the IBC2012 Awards Ceremony on Sunday 9 September.
With enhancements to its high-speed file sharing and archiving software, StorNext 4.3 is built to address demanding requirements in managing digital media content. It includes a new database to support up to one billion files and dozens of petabytes of tiered storage, and meets emerging customer needs such as archive on ingest, active vaulting, multi-file formats such as DPX, and project-based storage capacity management. These features are designed to manage the volume, velocity and variety associated with massive video files, and to help broadcasters and post production facilities extract maximum value from their content.
Quantum’s Scalar® LTFS appliance features a NAS front-end and is based on the LTFS open-standard for content formatting. Because it works with existing application and file system tools, LTFS-based content is easily managed, transported and accessible for long-term data protection and archival storage. The Scalar LTFS appliance can also be used to import and export LTFS open-standard media into a StorNext File System.
