The County Administrative Board in the County of Värmland granted an environmental permit for the Årjäng Nordväst wind farm in the Municipality of Årjäng. The farm encompasses nine turbines and its annual production is estimated at 63,000 MWh, corresponding to the electricity consumption of 10,000 households.

The application documents were submitted to the County Administrative Board in the County of Värmland in November 2010. The Municipality of Årjäng subsequently approved the wind farm, which is a prerequisite for securing approval from the Country Administrative Board under the Swedish Environmental Code. The environmental permit has gained legal force. Årjäng Nordväst had already secured building permits for turbines with a total height of 150 meters, however, the environmental permit allows the total height to be raised to 180 meters.
