Swedish telecom company Radio Innovation - which develops, manufactures and offers a pioneering antenna solution that significantly improves coverage and capacity for mobile communication - has received a significant order from a large mobile network operator group in Africa. The order includes Radio Innovation’s low-band antennas and will be used to cover 500 kilometers stretch of road.

Thanks to Radio Innovation’s superior antenna technology, only half the traditionally required sites will create mobile coverage for this 5G-ready network along the route. At the same time, the reduction of CAPEX and OPEX is up to 45 percent. This order is the first of four phases. Radio Innovation looks forward to being part of all four phases.

“This order demonstrates the superiority of our technology. It is the beginning of a collaboration in which we see great potential in the future. There is a huge need to improve 4G and 5G connectivity in the African urban and rural areas where as many as 95 percent of the population lacks mobile coverage,” says Dusyant Patel, CEO of Radio Innovation.

Radio Innovation’s antennas extend the coverage by five times compared to traditional antennas. Furthermore, with increased capacity and at a lower consumer cost. It also provides an opportunity to bridge the digital divide by establishing profitable coverage in places where it has previously been financially unjustifiable.
