21st June, 2005: A new standard of service and style offering will be available to all those visiting or living in Cork City from today with the opening of the Radisson SAS Hotel & Spa in Little Island, Cork.

Incorporating the 19th Century Ditchley House, the €37 million Radisson SAS Hotel & Spa, Cork is nestled on nine acres and offers 129 guest rooms, in Urban and Ocean styles. The hotel, which is the ninth Radisson SAS in Ireland, aims to differentiate itself in the competitive local hotel market by placing its priority focus on the delivery of the highest standards of service.

To achieve this all 145 staff are inducted into the ‘Yes I Can’ service culture – the international standard delivered by all Radisson SAS staff around the world. According to the General Manager, Eivind Dalvang “It is a very exciting time for us in the hotel but also we believe an important time for the Cork hotel industry. All our staff will bring a new standard of service and a viable alternative to existing properties in Cork. I believe our customers will be very pleasantly surprised with the difference.”

The Radisson Hotel & Spa, Cork is the only hotel in Cork City with a spa – the Retreat Spa & Fitness Centre – which is expected to be one of the main attractions, along with the Island Grillroom Restaurant.

The Retreat Spa & Fitness Centre features nine treatment rooms offering a range of luxurious Elemis treatments, a relaxation suite and state-of-the-art gymnasium with Precor equipment. In addition, there will be a unique hydrotherapy pool with nine invigorative areas to promote well-being in water purified by ozone. This extravagant 18m pool incorporates massage seats and jets, bubble seats, geysers, loungers and a children’s pool.

Christian Gartmann, Regional Director, Rezidor SAS Hospitality UK & Ireland, said: “With the opening of the Radisson SAS Hotel & Spa, Cork, our portfolio of first class hotels in Ireland increases to nine, giving
us properties in the majority of primary locations across Ireland.”

The hotel is just ten minutes from the city centre and Cork International Airport. With such great access the hotel will be targeting the local and national business and leisure customer. Its impressive conference
facilities include 11 meeting rooms, a business centre and a ballroom catering for up to 400 delegates.
