RADISSON SAS IS THE FIRST GLOBAL BRAND TO OPEN ITS HOTEL IN KIEV

September 1st, 2005: Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts, the first class international hotel company, is proud to announce that it is expanding into Kiev, Ukraine with the opening of the new 255 room Radisson SAS hotel. The new 49 million EUR property is located in the diplomatic area of picturesque downtown Kiev. The owners of the project are Rezidor SAS Hospitality (10%), EBRD (30 %), and Raiffeisen Management Investment (60%).
This event is of great importance not only for Radisson SAS, but for Kiev and Ukraine as well. The entrance of one of the world's leading international hotel brands to Kiev marks the worldwide boost of interest in Ukraine and makes a prominent step in the fast and dynamic growth of the city, opening new opportunities for international business contacts and tourism. With it, Radisson SAS promotes the increase of hotel service levels in Ukraine to truly international standards.

The new Radisson SAS hotel opens 180 new jobs. “Through extensive staff training and by implementing the Radisson SAS standards and its “Yes I Can” philosophy we guarantee a top quality experience and high level of service to our customers”, he comments.
Following this philosophy, Radisson SAS Kiev focuses primarily on business travellers and corporate clients. The hotel offers 255 spacious rooms (including 150 Standard, 83 Business Class and 22 Suites) which are furnished in three styles: Scandinavian, Maritime, and Italian. The in-room amenities include modem port, satellite TV, in-house movies, coffee/tea-machine, trouser press, safe and hairdryer.
Radisson SAS Kiev has two restaurants: the 85-seat Bistro Coté Est offering modern international cuisine, and a 50-seat Mille Miglia Ristorante & Enoteca serving fine Italian cuisine and a perfect selection from its wine bar. The hotel’s cigar bar K Largo in the lobby is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and snack after a busy day of meetings or touring the city.
Fitness and relaxation facilities include a 245 square meters fitness club, Pace, featuring a first-class fitness area, solarium, massage room, Finnish sauna and steam bath next to the indoor relaxation area with comfortable lounges.
The state-of-the-art conference facilities covering up to 407 square meters will perfectly fit meeting or dinner banquets of any kind or scale. The hotel offers a main conference room called the Embassy Suite, 203 square meters space with capacity for up to 230 quests in theatre set-up, 150 guests for banquets and 250 guests for cocktail receptions, and four smaller board rooms.
The hotel has 10 levels. Sublevels 1 and 2 for parking and working areas, the first floor for lobby and restaurants and accommodation from the second to the seventh floors.
HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE
The new hotel is located within walking distance of government buildings and the shops which line the city's main street, Kreschatyk, and is 34 km west from Boryspil International Airport.
Yaroslaviv Val is one of the most famous and ancient Kiev streets. It follows the line of 11th century fortification walls ('Val') built by the most renowned Duke Yaroslav. Radisson SAS Kiev has joined two buildings, dating back to 1882 and 1903. Both sites have a rich history and a long lineage of owners. One of them was the Talbergs family depicted by Bulgakov in his famous novel "White Guard".
The original design, heavily influenced by the eclecticism of the beginning of 20th century, brought the building the status of Monument of Architecture, thus the original design of the façade is carefully preserved. The Radisson SAS Kiev project was developed by A. Pashenko Architect Studio with S. Zdorenko as main architect.
