Automotive Project Set to Focus on Actionable Objectives for Economic Parity with "One Voice, One Goal", October 2-4

DETROIT, Mich., August 8, 2012Rainbow PUSH Coalition and Citizenship Education Fund will convene the 13th Annual Global Automotive & Energy Summit October 2-4, 2012 at the MGM Grand Detroit Hotel in Detroit. This year’s theme, "Economic Parity: One Voice, One Goal," will provide opportunities for the automakers and energy companies to join the conversation in leveling the playing field for minority companies to do business.

Branded as the only ethnic business conference that focuses solely on the automotive industry, the two day conference will connect automotive executives, entrepreneurs, suppliers, dealers, automotive manufacturers, advertising agencies, media outlets and others from across the automotive and energy spectrum to discuss strengthening and creating opportunities for people of color.

"When we have one set of rules and the goals and objectives are clear, then everybody wins," said Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., president and founder of Rainbow PUSH Coalition. "Rainbow PUSH is proud to be in the forefront of making sure that African American and minority suppliers are part of the automotive industry’s recovery so they can spread their economic impact within their respective communities."

Building on the success of last year’s summit which included prominent leaders from various automotive companies, the agenda for the 2012 summit will include spirited discussions about business, supplier diversity, advertising and marketing, technology innovations, collaborations and women in the automotive and energy industries. Updates on the progress of corporate reciprocity, agency representation, and ethnic marketing and advertising spend will be presented.

Planned sessions include "The Economic Impact of Saving the Automotive Industry", a featured town hall discussion; "Driving Tier 1 and Tier 2 Partnerships to Create Economic Opportunities"; a focus on OEMs and Energy Tier 1’s and the benefits of collaboration; "Diversity Media Advertising: Opportunities, Access and Parity", featuring top marketing officers; and "Women of Color in Automotive and Energy- Connecting and Retooling". Additional panels and special guests’ participants will be announced later.

During the summit, with funding from the General Motors Foundation, in collaboration with Rainbow PUSH/Excel, 25 -$2500 scholarships will be awarded to students from various Michigan cities.
