RAISIO NUTRITION EXTENDS THE CODETERMINATION TALKS
The status of the loss-making Grain Starch Business to be
reconsidered


Raisio Group subsidiary Raisio Nutrition intensifies the
rationalisation process. The status of the continuously loss-
making Grain Starch Business will be reconsidered and if needed,
Raisio may decide to close it down. It is estimated that the grain
starch turnover in 2003 will be less than EUR 20 million and the
result about EUR 3 million in the red. The number of personnel is
45.

Additionally, the codetermination talks that started last week
will be extended to cover the blue-collar workers of Raisio
Nutrition. The extensive efficiency program will demand major
changes in the organisational structure as well as product
rationalisations. If the Grain Starch business will be closed
down, the need for reduction of blue-collar workers is estimated
to approximately 70 on top of the earlier informed reduction of
white-collar workers of 40.
