Books on Finnish architecture at Frankfurt Book Fair, Hall 5, Stand A 79

Rakennustieto Publishing highlights a new book on the works of Finnish architects Lahdelma and Mahlamäki, who were recently nominated for the Finlandia Prize on architecture for their Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw. The new book can be seen on the Finnish Book Publishers Association stand A 79 in Hall 5.

Continuing the series of books on the works of Alvar Aalto, we exhibit the latest additions, “Alvar Aalto – What and When” and “Alvar Aalto Architect. Paimio Sanatorium 1929-33, Vol. 5”. The new book Paimio Sanatorium is Volume 5 in the series of monographs on Alvar Aalto’s buildings published by the Alvar Aalto Foundation. In the Paimio Sanatorium Aalto established the values that he later applied in all his design work. On its completion in 1933, the building was immediately heralded internationally as a success, and it laid the foundation for Aalto’s reputation as one of the world’s significant modern architects. Also other books presenting the life and works of Alvar Aalto are on display on the stand.

The books Finnish Sauna / Die finnische Sauna reveal the secrets of sauna bathing and constructing a sauna. Also included are case examples of small saunas. With the help of the book, you could even build your own sauna.

Our Spirit of Nature series covers the Wood Architecture Award recipients 2000-2012, such as Bijou Jain and Zumthor. A series of architectural essay books are also a part of our offering on display at the Fair.

In addition to these, a number of other books on architecture, design and housing in Finland as well as playing cards with architectural, design and musical themes, can be found on the joint stand.
