Company looking to build products and distribution

Skokie, Ill., September 15, 2011 – With a renewed focus on integrating geography and social studies into everyday subject matter for K-12 students, Rand McNally announced that it has hired two veteran Education professionals to lead the charge at the company.

Dori Veto, who has more than 15 years experience in the sector, is now leading Rand McNally’s Education business as director and general manager. Veto, who worked at McGraw-Hill, McDougal Littell (now part of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), and Sylvan Learning Centers prior to joining Rand McNally, began her career as a classroom teacher. She is tasked with transitioning the existing product line into a more digitally focused product strategy that is contextually designed around today’s curriculum guidelines.

“Through our new focus, we will be better able to leverage our outstanding content and digital platforms to partner closely with educators and provide schools with comprehensive, performance-enhancing social studies solutions that will prepare students to become global citizens,” said Veto.

“Technology will be a key component to this initiative. Rand McNally is exploring ways in which digital solutions will make learning more engaging for children and provide educators and parents with tools to develop global awareness,” Veto explained. “Using these programs, students will explore their world and how they fit into it.”

In addition, Dave Dardano has joined Rand McNally as National Sales Manager. With more than 18 years of experience in K-12 sales, Dardano has worked in roles ranging from sales consultant to sales director, most recently leading the national sales team at RealityWorks Inc. In his new role, Dave has been tasked with building a sales organization with experience selling technology products into the education market.

Rand McNally has been serving the education market for more than a century with wall maps and globes.

“Developing products for schools is an important part of our brand heritage and we remain committed to this market”, said Dave Muscatel, CEO of Rand McNally. “Since I joined the company in 2009 we have successfully launched many digital product initiatives in other markets and I am excited to add two seasoned professionals that can help us do the same in the K-12 market.”
