Rapunzel of Sweden expands
Early in September the moving vans started to roll. Since then a lot has happened within the walls of the fast growing hair extensions company, Rapunzel of Sweden. Now, recently, the 1500 square metres large e-commerce house in the north of Sweden, town of Umeå, was inaugurated. Nearly thousand guests attended. In the beginning of October a new salon with shop will be opened in the centre of our capital, Stockholm, not only that, the company’s founder Ida Backlund has been nominated as Sweden’s representative to IWEC (International Women´s Entrepreneurial Challenge).
A substantial increase in incoming orders during the last year has resulted in Rapunzel of Sweden expanding time and again. Last week the 1500 square metres large e-commerce house in the north of Sweden, town of Umeå, was ready for the public. Inauguration took place during two days and was attended by nearly a thousand guests, among them celebrities, politicians, officials, partners and customers.
- It was so incredibly fun that so many participated and made this day together with us so memorable, says Ida Backlund CEO and founder of Rapunzel of Sweden.
The inauguration speech by Ida Backlund focused on the future actions of the company. During the year of 2014 a large expansion of the company’s E-shop is planned to take place.
- We will concentrate our efforts on the E-trade even more vigorously. Today we deliver hair extensions to 36 countries and within a year we plan to increase this number to 60. Together we, Rapunzel of Sweden, will become the IKEA of hair extensions.
These efforts also include an expansion of salons. Today the company has salons in the cities of Umeå (north of Sweden), Stockholm (the capital) and Gothenburg (west of Sweden). During the year of 2014 Rapunzel will establish a new salon in Malmö (south of Sweden). But the journey does not end there.
Already in the beginning of October Rapunzel of Sweden will open its doors to what is expected to be something of a flagship among salons due to its location in the middle of Sweden’s capital. In the centre of Stockholm, where there are a lot of salons. Rapunzel will open a new salon and shop, three times larger than the present salon in Stockholm.
- The old salon simply became too small, we grew out of it, says Elin Kämpeback, Rapunzel’s Store Concept Manager.
On October 4-5th the inauguration of the new luxurious premises will take place. An occasion, which involves mingling, celebrities and red carpet, but also a lot of hair. Everybody who is interested has the possibility to get acquainted with hair extensions and all the products of Rapunzel´s own brand.
At the same time, as Rapunzel of Sweden grows here at home, the CEO Ida Backlund has been nominated as one of Sweden’s two representatives to IWEC (International Women´s Entrepreneurial Challenge) this autumn. The yearly conference will this year take place on November 10th in Lima, the capital of Peru, in South America.

To spread the message about female entrepreneurship, to be able to show, inspire and hopefully to create possibilities for more women to lead, to participate and to believe in their own capabilities, is important. To work together, to exchange views, to get and give knowledge and inspiration, I believe are the keys to success no matter which line of business you work in. Together we become stronger and together we can create better possibilities for more women to take the first step to entrepreneurship, not only in Sweden but all around the world, says Ida Backlund.
