SelfCookingCenter energy saving figures back up coveted accreditation

Rational, the leading combi oven manufacturer has been awarded the coveted Energy Star label. Now, Rational has released energy savings figures to support this accreditation.

Rational SelfCookingCenters not only deliver outstanding cooking results, but also save resources and are sustainable, too. The SelfCookingCenter’s high standards of energy efficiency are what earned it the Energy Star accreditation.

Rational’s Energy Star certified combination ovens are on average 30% more efficient than standard equipment. This means that they have an estimated annual savings of £145 (gas models) and £408 (electric models), whilst saving roughly 7,121 kWh per year.

Rational is committed to looking at the whole life-cycle of catering equipment and develop energy-efficient cooking technologies that minimise the consumption of resources. The estimated lifetime savings of using an Energy Star certified Rational is £4,000 for an electric model, based on a 12-year life, actual savings will vary depending on use.

A Rational combi steamer can quickly pay for itself. The SelfCookingCenter 5 Senses cuts energy consumption by up to 20%, compared to previous models, and up to 70% compared to a traditional kitchen without a combi-steamer. It can roast, poach, bake, toast, braise and even pan fry fish and cook chips - all at the touch of a button and with consistently perfect results. This means it can replace 40 to 50% of standard appliances, reducing the kitchen footprint by at least 30%.

The latest Rational SelfCookingCenter 5 Senses includes:

  • HiDensityControl uses patented dynamic air mixing technology, which precisely controls the speed of the unit’s fan to channel the heat and humidity to exactly where it is needed. This not only delivers outstanding cooking quality, but also allows chefs to maximise output, since they can load more food into the same size cooking cabinet. It also reduces energy consumption and cuts production time compared to previous models.

  • iLevelControl tells the user which different foods can be cooked together at the same time and intelligently controls the cooking time for each rack. It means that everything is cooked to perfection, every time.

  • iCookingControl regulates the cooking processes – even the most complex of cooking routines can be initiated at the touch of a button, thanks to the simple control system. However, numerous new cooking options allow chefs to adjust the cooking process according to their own recipes.   They always know exactly what’s going on, since they can see the status of the cooking process via the control panel. This means no more time-consuming routine tasks, such as monitoring food, and more time for essentials such as creativity.

  • Efficient CareControl further enhances efficiency by detecting the build up of cooking residues in the SelfCookingCenter and always suggesting the appropriate cleaning level. This saves up to 40% in terms of energy, water and chemicals.
