Lindab, which is 49% owned by Ratos, has today acquired parts of the US company Butler's Hungary-based European operations for the development, manufacture and marketing of steel structural systems.
"Today's acquisition marks a key step in the growth strategy adopted by Lindab for Central Europe," says Lindab's CEO Carl-Gustaf Sondén1) commenting on today's deal.

Lindab has two business areas - Ventilation and Profile. Profile's product programme includes roof and wall cladding, roof drainage systems, doors, lightweight construction systems and steel halls. In 2001 the business area's sales, which are seeing strong growth in Central and Eastern Europe, amounted to approximately SEK 1.8 billion.

"We know that there is substantial demand for steel structural systems in Central and Eastern Europe. This acquisition will give us a complete product programme and a strong sales channel in Hungary and other countries, a market where we already have positive experience," says Carl-Gustaf Sondén.

The acquired operations have annual sales of approximately SEK 180m. The acquisition will be financed with Lindab's own funds and will not result in demands for additional capital contributions from Lindab's owners.

Ratos's CEO, Arne Karlsson1), comments on today's deal: "The acquisition is a good example of how Lindab is combining organic growth with acquisitions in this fast-growing region."
