Ratos: Arcus Gruppen concentrates operations Arcus Gruppen is selling its Arcus Kjemi business to the Norwegian company Pemco AS, who owns 100% of Kemetyl Group AS, for an Enterprise Value of NOK 112m. In addition, the sale of a rectification facility in Hamar has been completed. "Arcus Kjemi sells alcohol- and isopropanol-based products for technical and medical activities - something that is not a part of Arcus Gruppen's core business," says Jan Tore Føsund, CEO of Arcus Gruppen. "I am therefore very happy that through today's agreement we have found a new, natural home for the company and its employees." Arcus Kjemi's operations, which are concentrated in Vestby and Halden, just outside Oslo, will have estimated sales of approximately NOK 300m in 2006. Arcus Gruppen has also completed the sale of its rectification facility in Hamar, Norway. Together these divestments are expected to generate a capital gain of approximately NOK 7m for Arcus Gruppen and a liquidity contribution of approximately NOK 140m. The sales should be viewed in the light of Arcus Gruppen's strategy to focus on the manufacture, marketing and distribution of the group's strong brands in the Nordic wine and spirits market. Among the company's better-known brands are Linie Aquavit, Braastad Cognac and Vikingfjord Vodka.
